An Adaptive Model Predictive Control System for Virtual Coupling in Metros

Virtual coupling (VC) is an emerging concept and hot research topic in railways, especially for metro systems. Several unit trains VC drive with a desired minimum distance, they, as whole, are regarded single train. In this work, distributed adaptive model predictive control (AMPC) system proposed to coordinate the driving of each train VC. To obtain accurate parameters dynamics time varying environment, estimator designed AMPC controller. A variable step descent algorithm along negative gradient direction adopted estimator, which steers estimated values real ones. Simulations conducted results compared both nominal fixed steps literature. Our (AMPCVS) has better performances than other two Results indicate that there improvement when existed running process whole inter-station also simulated here. Experimental show track objective well.
